Just wondering if anyone has tested 7977 against H1000 or RL26 and what the results where?

Right now I want to keep testing for a different powder for my 300 wm. H1000 does not give me the velocity I'm looking for and RL26 seems too sensitive, so I'm looking for my next test subject.

7977 was on the lower end of velocity as well as H1000 but H1000 was faster. H1000 was consistent. RL26 gave the most velocity and seem to be pretty consistent when not loaded past some of the susgested box max loads.

7977 was much faster than h1000 in my 300 wby but the es was horrible so I use h1000

We have done well with all 3 powders. Seems like it depends on the rifle more than the powder. We have done well with Norma MRP in this burn rate are as well. IMR7828ssc has been good in the 300wm.

What bullet and barrel length?

215 Berger's and 26" barrel.

I do get great accuracy and tight ES from RL26 but it seems every time there's a 25 degree or more change in temp I gotta run a new ladder. Maybe I'm just not in a true node

In my XP-100 7mm RSAUM Bartlein 17.5" bbl, I tested briefly H1000 and IMR7977.

Using H1000, I was able to go up 3-4 grains more in powder charge than IMR7977. In fact, if I recall correctly, my starting charge of IMR7977 was 63.0 which gave pressure right off with very very stiff bolt lift. I think I went up to 67.0 gr of H1000.

I need to revisit the IMR7977 again, but found a good load using H1000 and the Hornady 162 ELD-X bullet, so I haven't went any further with testing.

Tried all 3 in a 300 WM with 180 gr. Best SD's and accuracy was with H1000. Never ran any of them over the chrony though.

I find it a bit odd that you would pick those 3 powders since both IMR7977 and H1000 are known to be very temp stable though somewhat detuned and RL-26, while always giving top performance in just about everything will drift moderately with temperature change. If you are going for maximum stability RL-26 doesn't fit. If you are going for max performance the other two don't fit. Personally I use RL-26 and just don't run it in a temp very different from when the load was developed (also why I do load development this time of year so temps are kind of like hunting season). I do get good ES (20 fps) with RL-26 when running hotter loads and if I didn't I wouldn't use it. Nosler data shows H4831 was the most accurate powder they tested for both 200 and 210 grain projectiles in 300 WM so you might give that a try. That is one of my all time favorite powders in either regular or Short Cut form.

Thank you for the replies guy's.

I am going to keep testing with RL26 because I do like the performance I get but I also want to test with another more stable powder just because.

I have actually changed my mind from IMR 7977 to 8133, I'm gonna give that a go once I find some.
