Anytime I work with a 270 my first set of test loads involves 54.4 gr of IMR 4831 and a variety of 130 gr bullets. 9 times out of 10 one of the bullets will print groups under 1/2 inch. As for speed I am older than I like to admit and have killed more deer that I should have, and I have never had a buck hanging on the wall look over at his neighbor and say "I am so embarrassed, he killed me with a bullet only going 2850 fps". I load for accuracy.

Awesome powder in my 300 mag. 71 grains with 200 grain accubonds in my browning and it shoots clover leafs all day. Buddy of mine uses it in his 270 with 150 grain bullets. Not sure his load but it also shoots sub moa
It is all I use to load for 270 in my savage 110 and my dad's Winchester 70. Sierra SBT in 130gr. and 150gr. It does well in my 300wby. With 212 ELD-X also.

Versatility seems to be the biggest attribute of this powder. It may not be the best for speed in some situations or the most temp insensitive, but just flat out works. I'm learning that chasing perfection results in a powder cabinet full of 1 pounders of different powders. I would have been smarter to find one or two that work and buy in bulk.

Worked well for me in 7 rem Mag. .25-06, .280, .270, .280 AI and similar also benefit. It surprised me your .270 doesn't like it. The load below was rushed with zero workup. From my Sendero SFII. Needed ammo for deer season so picked Noslers load straight from the manual with 168 gr ABLR and was pleasantly surprised

I haven't shot anything other than 4831 in my Ruger 77 tang safety model. Shoots 117/120 SGK's into less than 1/2 inch and more often less than 3/8 of an inch at a hundred yards.

4831SC shot well in my 300 WIN MAG but I switched to RL17 because it gave me 200FPS more and just as accurate.

30-06, 180 grain bullet, 59 grains of 4831 in an ancient Enfield. Shoots as good as a lot of very expensive rifles.

I used to use IMR 7828 in the 7m rem mag that I used to have. 71 grns would push a 160 grn Sierra at around 3210 fps with great accuracy. As a matter of fact I've got a new bottle of std and about half of a bottle of ssc I don't have a use for anymore. I use H 1000 in my 30-378.

My uncle has used it exclusively in his 300 weatherby mag for almost 50 years. He is in no way a precision shooter but is the fastest reloader you will ever meet. LOL! He simply fills the shell to the top, wipes off the excess and loads his 180gr round nose to sammi OAL. Don't know how he's still alive but it does tell you how tough a mark V is.
