looks like the army is paying 2.7 billion for 250000 of them so roughly 10k a pop and that's just for the optic. My understanding is that it has a standard non powered reticle which requires no batteries. Having spent a minute in the military my self I worry less about the batteries and more about using it in a high humidity environment. I remember my EO TEC having issues in the Philippines with foging.
