How well do current ballistic programs work?

looks like the army is paying 2.7 billion for 250000 of them so roughly 10k a pop and that's just for the optic. My understanding is that it has a standard non powered reticle which requires no batteries. Having spent a minute in the military my self I worry less about the batteries and more about using it in a high humidity environment. I remember my EO TEC having issues in the Philippines with foging. Way back in the Dark Ages a cartridges usable distance was determined by when it went trans sonic. Then a long came ballistic programs with Mach Speed adjustments. So how well do today's ballistic programs navigate trans sonic disruption? Seems that the folks of the Canadian AMU have worked out most of the trans sonic problem. How well does your current ballistic program resolve the problem?
As with any calculations of anything ever, garbage in will equal garbage out.

When it works.

For something complex that human life relies upon, I would hope that the powers that be would at least have battle sights available - even if the optic would have to be removed.
