Shooting this morning at 500 and 660 yards, that's as far as my range allows me to shoot. Day in and day out I consistently shoot sub-moa at these distances. Today my last shot at 660 yards, I pulled bolt rearward I noticed a plastic tip from one of the 30 cal. 220 gr. ELD-X was laying on top of my magazine, that shot was 4 moa low. I don't know if the tip missing or was it me pulling a shot that resulted in that shot being low. Is anyone else having problems with tips breaking off of Hornady ELD-X resulting in shots being sprayed out of your groups?

That happened to me The first time I ever used ballistic tips. Combination of a sharp feed ramp and ejecting an unfired round would result in shearing the tip of the bullet off.

I rounded everything off and smoothed it out nicely and haven't had any issues, but after that I haven't used a ballistic tip in the gun.

If your loaded rounds stick up on a severe angle in the mag box the bolt can catch on the tip of the top round. Usually on one of the last in box.

This rifle is a HS Precision 30-378 Wby with a detachable magazine, I've shot over 60 rounds of these Hornady 220 gr. ELD-X in this rifle and that was the first round I had any issues with.

Had this issue with accubonds a few years ago. I would pull them out of the box to load and some would be missing tips. I ended up shooting a bull elk with one that a tip had fallen out, jammed my rifle and slowed my second shot. Got the bull, but haven't shot Nosler much since, but might go back for certain calibers.

I have had issues in one of my hs rifles. That little gap between the top of the mag and the bottom of the feed ramp seems to eat the tip off accubonds in mine. The bottom of the feed ramp is in the right spot to hit the bullet tip and snap off the tip. It also shaves a wedge in soft lead tips. Not sure there is much of a fix for it, I have been shooting tsx for the last while which don't seem to have the problem.

Needs to hava a ridge in the side of the mag to rest on the shoulder of the case to hold them rearward in the mag.
