I'd like to try the new 178gr BTHP .308 on game if they perform well. Has anyone had experience with them? Do they expand well? Frangible like a Berger or more like a SMK that tends to stay closed?

I'm interested to know too. We loaded up 40rds for my cousin's Remington 700 .308 with the 168gr Hornady BTHP. We haven't ran them over the chrony yet but they are in the ball park of 2700fps with a grain under max of IMR 4064. He was originally going to shoot the 168 A-MAXs but we couldn't find any in stock around late December. Now the A-MAXs are everywhere around here, even Wal-Mart has them! He still wants to try the BTHPs for red tag season in August and we have a 1-700yd range card set up for this load. It's also extremely accurate and he shot a three shot 3/8in group at 100yds with the first rounds out of the rifle!
