Hogs and Creosote

i hunted with a outfitter that used, used motor oil on trees and they would rub themselves all over it. he said it kept the bugs down and brought them where he wanted them
That's exactly right it helps them with ticks fleas whatever insect they may have.
The things ya learn, right?
The black bears seem to like it too.

I have killed hogs that were so covered with lice, I refused to clean them! I left them for buzzard bait.....and even the BUZZARDS wouldn't eat them!

Dang just about need to spray them before you can touch them.
I got it, a little pre roasting fire, flame thrower, lol if you can stand the burning hair smell

Farmer in the Red River bottom had a tree he would pour used motor oil on when he changed the oil in his tractors.
Haven't looked in years. Don't know if the oil killed the tree or the hogs rubbing on it! LOL!
Feral hogs can transmit a variety of diseases and parasites to humans, including leptospirosis, brucellosis, tularemia, trichinellosis, toxoplasmosis, and strains of E. coli and Salmonella. Transmission can occur through consumption of undercooked meat, contact with blood and fluids during hunting or field dressing, exposure to contaminated water or soil, or contact with the animals themselves.
50/50 mix of turpentine and used motor oil on a rub rope or dead tree.....thank me later!
I've been told that cleaning and eating deer can give you diseases that will make you want to give up eating wild deer. I know feral hogs can and do make people sick. I'm careful with my knife and cook my hog well done. I'm not giving up hogs or deer.
We take old pieces of electric poles (get them from the power company) and bury them with the small end down so we can pull them up with the blade on a bulldozer and move them if we ever need to. Paint them with light coats of creosote and there you have it—a new place to hunt hogs. Cheaper than corn.

Or as a supplemental area to corn! We use them to build feeder pens to protect from cows. 4 poles and 3-4 strands of barbed wire don't slow the deer or hogs down
