I'm new to your forum, but not new to hunting. Thanks for a great online magazine. I've taken a few deer at what I used to think to be long range, 100 to maybe 250 yards or so. Then in about 2008 I started trying to stretch my shooting skill farther than the 250 mark. With practice and good hand loads I became confident with range out to about 500 yards. In the 2010 rifle season I carefully placed a shot on a doe at a measured 425 yards. I was hooked! Last season was an easy shot at 331 yards, but the buck turned out to be a very nice trophy, at least for me. The season was a success more for the friends and family that were together on that trip. Now building new rifle for 2012. Hope to hear from you guys, and especially from Manitoba hunters.
