Hard bullet seating

So I'm out at our camp range breaking in the new 7saum. New ADG brass that I did neck chamfer. New forster benchrest seater. The bullets are taking a good bit of force to seat. So much that the seating stem is denting the heck out of the bullet jacket. Multiple bullet types. Necks out the box are .315 and .317 loaded. I'm not using any type of lube on the necks. Never do and never had this issue.
 
Does it look like they removed all the oxidation from their annealing process?

My last batch of .300 WSM looked and felt like it had a thicker layer. I ran it all in the some corn for a hour, ran a T2 mandrel and chamfered. Seated extremely nice afterwards
 
The brass should be run thru a F/L die having some sort of expander mandrel/button. As mentioned new brass neck mouths may be out of round and neck walls may vary. Don't use the bullet as an expander.

Measure the neck walls -- (neck wall * 2) + (.284) = diameter of neck when loaded. Then this should equal .317, your measured neck diameter.

(.317) - . 284 = .033 then (.033/ 2) = .0165 is the actual neck wall thickness and is sort of excessive.

Upon firing these rounds it would be likely that a bullet would not easily slip fit into a fired case. This would indicate excessive neck diameter.

Turn the necks to allow a close slip fit of bullet into fired case, chamber neck diameters may vary.
 
Adg brass comes in a box like Lapua. Mouths were straight. I never have sized new brass unless the necks were visibly out of round like you find in bagged brass. Even then I just backed the die out to not touch the shoulder and just ran the expander through the necks to straighten them. Never had issues before.

Bullet slides easily into a fired case. .317-315 is .002 " neck tension" not excessive. But I agree .0165 is a little thick for brass necks.
 
The bullet is acting as an expander.

You FL die may also be over working the necks?

Bushing fl dies give more control over neck sizing.
 
I run all my new brass through a Forester neck bushing die. Make sure they are all uniform. Lapua, ADG, all new brass will have neck variance.
 
My experience with both new adg and Lapua brass has been similar. The first thing I've done with new brass is inside and outside neck chamfer. Then I dip the neck in imperial dry neck lube and expand the neck with a caliber specific expanding mandrel. After this I'll dip once more, charge, and seat the bullet and still I feel varying neck tension from piece to piece. Checking overall length each time I've found the hard to seat bullets will often have a longer overall length. A little frustrating in the process but this issue has not presented itself after they've been fired once. This issue has me questioning larger ES on virgin loads. I'm not sure how to get around this. Wondered about expanding up a caliber and then necking back down but don't think I want to go through the trouble.
