Selling a barreled action built by Benchmark Barrels of Arlington, WA in 7 Dakota (28 Nosler). Action is a Defiance Deviant Hunter, barrel is a 1:9" #5 Benchmark fluted with a mini muscle brake. Round count is right at 240 and shoots 1/4 MOA with 180/190's. The action is cerakoted Sniper grey and the barrel is sand blasted stainless. Looks really sharp. Selling for $2100 shipped to your FFL of choice. Pics will be posted later this weekend.

Let me be clear about the 7 Dakota vs. a 28 Nosler. There are derived from the same parent case, .404 Jeffery. Both are necked down to .284", the only difference is the Nosler has a 35 degree shoulder and the Dakota has a 30 degree. Thus the 28 Nosler is a hair longer the 7 Dakota. 28 Nosler brass could be used to form 7 Dakota by running through a sizing die and bumping the shoulder back to Dakota specs and trimming to length. Ballistics are almost identical between the two, yet Nosler likes to say they have "the most powerful 7mm on the market". Well the 7 Dakota has been around for over a decade.

FWIW, this barreled action shoots 190gr Matrix VLDs at 3065 fps with 77.6gr of Retumbo and a .030" jump into a one hole group. Attached is a picture of one clean bore shot and a 5 shot group.

What's the barrel length, excluding the muzzle brake? Is the muzzle brake threaded? If so, do you know the thread specs? What is the COAL for your 190gr Matrix VLD loads?

The Dakota does not have a rebated rim, so it needs a bigger bolt face then a magnum. The 28 Nosler has the same size bolt face? That is what destroyed the Dakota line from taking off. The 7 Dakota has a case length of 2.5" I think, what is the 28?

The barrel is 25.5 without the brake, and 27.25" with the brake on. It's threaded 5/8x24. The COAL for the 190's is 3.490"

Before somebody potentially hurts themselves, DON'T try to form 7 Dakota from 28 Nosler. Yes they are derived from the same parent case, but have different bolt face dimensions. Dakota actions are typically around .560 where the 28 nosler is the same as a standard mag bolt face with its rebated rim like the rest of the Ultra Mag cartridges.
