I did some shooting with my daughters this weekend to get them some more trigger time prior to deer season in a couple weeks. They can both shoot well. I noticed both of them however taking a long time to pull the trigger (each have their own rifle). I always tell them to squeeze nice a steady. After a few groups that were more "open" then they would like (myself included). I shot each rifle. MAN DO THOSE TRIGGERS SUCK! I was able to get MOA with them but I too found myself squeezing FOREVER. I'm used to my rifles with BixnAndy's and some Trigger Techs or good cleaned up 700's. I'm wondering if I should just replace the triggers in each rifle. I think it would do wonders for my daughters confidence and also make target shooting more enjoyable.
One rifle is a Savage 11XP in .243 (for the Southpaw) the other is a Ruger American Gen 1 compact also in .243. It looks like I can pick up drop in Timney's for each rifle. I don't have Timney's in any of my rifles and am wondering if anyone has experience with either of these models and a Timney (or other) aftermarket drop in trigger?
Also, the sawhorse bench I made worked great. The rifle on the bench is a Howa mini 6.5 Grendel. That trigger is way better than the Ruger or Savage.
