I have a Bushnell 6-24x40 Banner mil dot scope with OA and want to put it on my .17 HMR so I can use the dots to make quick Kentucky windage adjustments. Bad news is that my Savage is a 1st gen .17HMR (Don't remember what model off the top of my head) where the dove tail has a rounded top instead of a flat one. It also has a bull barrel on it so I can't find rings that are high enough to mount with clearance at the objective? I tried the Burris high rings and had to file the bottom of them to match the rounded contour of the action and they are about 1/8" too low.
Anyone know of some extra tall rings that may work? Stores keep referring me to a gunsmith
