trying to find out how much energy i get at 200 yards when using a 26 inch barrel on a 50 cal accura mr using 100 grns 209 with a 260 grn pt gold bullet i passed on a 6x6 bull elk at 200 yards straight on shot
thanks

You need to know the velocity and BC of the bullet then plug it in to a calculator like the Berger one;

Assuming bc of a brick and BH209 posted velocity for your bullet with 100gr gets you about 1935fps at muzzle and about 1300 ftlbs at 200 yds. I would not take straight on with that energy. I believe you made good call.

Rough calc but reasonably close. Used 8,000 ft, 40 degrees, bc=~.260, the 300BT has BC of .300 so the 260 much less. I just threw in bc .260 since really means not much tossing big bullets close.

Here's an interesting powder test performed by a guy using a CVA with a 26" barrel and 250gr projectiles. His 100gr loads were measured by volume….NOT weight.

Here's some data straight from Blackhorn showing velocities and charges by volume and corresponding mass weights.

Maybe @ENCORE can chime in here as well?🤔

the bc is .220 and the fps is1832
Per your information.

I think you did the right thing. Very little margin for error with that shot.
