Well I don't like what I see in the USA going on. I will complete my move into MT this year. My son are up north and away from the likes of California. As they were getting out of School here. I told them to relocate to Npthern State. They have, if they had moved to Wy I would like that better. At the same time I want to be close to them and their kids. I keep and eye on what's going on in this country. I am not a happy camper.
 
I have an older DJI Phantom. It's fun to fly and see what kind of cool video you can get. I flew it out over a lake one day, about 3' off the water. I spooked up about 100 mudhens 3-400yds out that I couldn't see from the shore. They were everywhere! I thought I was gonna hit one and lose the drone in 25' of water but everything worked out. I brought it back to shore and didn't venture out over the water much after that.
After I got home I pulled the SD card and found that I missed a midair collision by about 1'.
The camera quit working a couple yrs ago so I rarely fly it anymore.
I'm thinking about buying a new one in a few months. It would be cool to fly it around the farm.

There are some good places in Wyoming conducive to the "survivalist" mindset…….but, you better have lots of provisions, tools/equipment, and skills! Plus, being in good health is extremely important!

I received my commercial drone pilots license from the FAA about 3 years ago because I wanted to be sure of the rules and regulations concerning drone flights. I have several drones including a DJI Matrice 30 T equipped with thermal imaging purchased when I considered getting into search and rescue and deer recovery. I have found several deceased deer that didn't leave a good blood trail but have decided not to get into the deer recovery business for hire. Shooting a drone down over your property is indeed against the law and is a felony offense. A drone has the same rights to the airspace as any commercial aircraft as long as the drone is not breaking the law

From what I understand, any new DJI drone is thus forth banned currently. I have a series of Mavics myself.

Wasn't even over drone stuff. Just Trump trying to stick it to China. Unfortunately, there are no, and will be no US companies innovating like they do.

Kind of like red dot optics. Yeah, there some US made ones, but not one of them innovate anything, or build for the average consumer.

Next step up in size is becoming a game changer in agriculture as well. They are 6ft x 6ft and equipped with 15 gallon tanks to spray nozzles to spray crops on a grid guided by GPS.
This same larger drone is also used in the oilfield equipped with magnetic particle imaging to locate buried or underwater pipelines.

I actually am a FAA licensed pilot for operating the very large agricultural drones for spraying micronutrients and air seeding cover crops.

Yes, any foreign produced drone, not just DJI, that doesn't already have FCC approval for their transmission system can not be flown or purchased in the US. Foreign Drones that have been approved prior to the ban can continue to be produced and flown in US airspace
