This is primarily my varmint calling rig, but it can do double duty as a whitetail deer gun at reasonable range. It's a Ruger American Rancher with the 16" barrel in 5.56mm shooting the Sierra 69 gr. BTHP. It's fitted with a Gemtech Titanium suppressor. It's very light and maneuverable making it easy to handle.
This deer was shot at 80 yards. The bullet took out both lungs and the top of the heart. I found the core of the bullet just under the skin on the far side. He ran less than 50 yards.
