It's probably already been discussed here, but is Leupolds CDS system worth the bother?
Thanks Dr. Vette. Compared to NOT having a compensating system and either using a dial adjustment or Kentucky style. I have done both and found Kentucky works best as I forgot to mark my elevation dial
now it is very important that you send the most accurate information to leupold when you order your dials. They will be as accurate as the information you send them. I used a kestrel with AB for most of the information. Sight height above the bore is another very important measurement.
If you hunt out west where there are lots of severe elevation changes that could be a problem.

I live in Michigan, hunt here as well as out west.
I was going to say the same thing. Or if you are from the Midwest, get your custom dials, but go on a hunt out west right?
I think we could come up with a lot of scenarios where the CDS turrets wouldn't work. They would probably work in most scenarios for most hunters though.
It works well out to moderate range in my opinion, once you start factoring in elevation, temperature, and pressure swings out at extreme range they fall out of minute of deer/elk accuracy.
however, for most hunters, general purpose range 0-700 yards I have found them to work excellent.
