Building a 338 win mag

I'd like to put together a 338 win mag. Can I build one from a 300 win mag savage 116 or is the bolt face wrong?

A magnum bolt face is what you need. If your Savage 116 started life as a .300 Win Mag, it will work just fine as the base rifle for your build.
