Budget Hunting Rifle Ideas

It's funny you brought up savage axis .270. I also have one in stainless .270. I purchased it a while ago and spent the summer with it. It is one of my most accurate rifles for the price . Winchester brass, CCI primers, Sierra 130 grain,52.4 grains hodgen 100V powder worked great out of my axis.

The axis is also offered with a wood stock, so no need for a boyds per say.

I think the 6.5cm is going to be hard to beat in your situation, furthermore, its really hard to beat a Tikka.

I'd run a tikka 6.5 topped with a nikon monarch scope bdc. It should be doable w/ said budget. The tikka is a world apart from the budget guns mentioned.

The 7-08 will meet your needs, but not a whole lot of options for factory ammo. Besides I'd venture to say the CM out runs the 708, I've seen lots of CM's on the competition line and no 7-08's.
