Boyd's Stock for K31

Ive had a Swiss K31 in military guise for a few weeks now. It's a blast to shoot, hits hard, and is quite accurate. Beautiful bore, bluing, and crown.

I'm wondering, other than shaving a bit of weight, are there benefits to a sporter stock? Does the K31 benefit from floating? Bedding? How difficult is the last 2% of in letting? Walnut or laminate?

Any help/suggestions are appreciated.
