was wondering how good the whitetail hunting is in the black hill region of SD. are there nice buck ? also we don't like to hunt near the road, are there remote walk in areas to pack into? We heard there was a major loss to the deer heard due to blue tongue disease, just how bad was it?

BH HUNTER,

Yes i heard you had a tough winter. We just sent in for a preference point yesterday morning via the internet, so won't be coming out this fall . Just starting to do a little homework. We are not True trophy hunters as some are, though we normally pass on scrub racks, it's nice to hear ya got decent buck , SD is awfully far to travel for a scrub rack..... but then again.... i think it's the thrill of hunting big country that lures us the most, beanfield whitetails are fine for some, but we prefer the solitude of bigwoods bucks, maine, adirondacks, northcentral PA .... black hills ?
thanks for the reply
