Binoculars

I'm curious to see what binoculars everyone is carrying and perhaps why that certain glass. I myself use Leica 10×42 Ultavids. When I was looking for some good glass 20 years ago, I went to Cabelas and tried just about all the top of the line binoculars. The Leicas just seemed to work best for my eye and what I wanted a binocular for. I actually believe they are the best piece of outdoor gear I have ever bought.

NL Pure in 10X42. I don't think it gets better than this for clarity and low light .

Though they're a little cheaper, I have the Maven C1 10x42. Great binoculars for the price when you catch them on sale.

As you pointed out, glass can be a bit subjective to the users eyes. I, like most would suggest the NL Pures are about the best. But at these upper levels, it takes a trained and discerning eye to make accurate judgments.

Zeiss 10X42 lets me see everything that I need to see even after the light has dropped off past legal shooting hours.

I saw a youtube reviewer mention some brands, like Swaro, have image flatteners that he said made him feel sick when he didn't with the binos showing 3D contrast. Anybody else experience this?

NL Pures are the best I've ever looked through. But I use Leica Geovids because I prefer a RFB, and soon I will upgrade to Leica Geovid Pro's.
From what I've been told, Swaro cannot put a range finder in the Pures because of the special glass coating.

Its not good enough to ask about optics preferences without first asking about the stye of hunting a person prefers.
For those who move about alot using their binoculars as they move along, it stands to reason that weight would be a major factor, therefore dictating the size of the glasses used.
However for those who can drive to or close to a location where they might spend an entire day glassing, then size and weight wouldnt be a factor at all.

I like Leica glass and run the Geovid Pros.

My choice eventually because I much rather have RFB.

My wife and I are both using 30+ year old Swarovski 8X 30 SLC's.

I'm sure that these will "pale" as compared to some of today's glass…..but, they've never disappointed us! memtb
