Bino Magnification

What is your preferred bino magnification and Why? Can't decided between 10x42, 10x50, or 12x50

10X42
10 because it can be handheld without much "shaking going on"

42 MM for the size and weight.

8x42 in compact binos but 10 power is Better in full size.
10x42 or 10x50 anything over 10 power is hard to stabilize unless on a mount.

10x50 or 12x50 better fov and little more power over 8x is handy for aging eyes. I Love, Love, Love my 10x54 Zeiss Victory, field of view and clarity are unmatched, course they are an RF Bino (have ranged mule deer over 3100yds). I have owned several sets of Swaros, Leicas, Nikons and Leupolds and viewed many Vortex and Steiners. Nikons, Vortex, Steiner and Leupolds not even in the same universe imho. I really like Swaro and the 10 and 12x50 ELs are Really nice and Leicas are nice too, but not as nice as the Zeiss Victory. Again, jomo. You probably can't really go wrong with any of the 3. If I was going to buy a new bino, regardless of power/size, it would be Zeiss or Swaro.

All my glassing is done on a tripod so 12x42 for me. Works really well but it all depends on where you are hunting and what type of terrain you have.

10x50 for me

10 provides a good combination of features such as fov and magnification.

50mm obj is not necessary, but it's what I use. It's for getting good light pick up helps with better exit pupil leading to better low light quality.

I can see as good at night with my binos as I can with my eyeballs, but still doesn't sacrifice good FOV. Usually the 42s with have wider FOV overall.

10x50 here, 50's mostly for better low light performance and the wider field of view vs a 40/42 feels to me like I can glass longer with less eye strain. Make sure your 10x are threaded, even just a single stick to help support the weight will make them a TON easier to use for long periods and a tripod is better if that is practical for how/where you hunt.

Really depends on where you hunt. As stated by Rick and others above, 10x42 is best for most applications. If you are hunting woods, 8x. Wide open off tripod, 12x or 14x. NL's set the standard.
