big louisiana whitetails 140 vld

Three deer taken with the 140 berger vld 6.5 mm out of my 260 rem this year at 2850 fps. A head shot doe at 152 yds, a 240 lb buck at 80 yards, and a 220 pound buck the ol lady shot at 200 yards! I was worried about the close range performance of the vld on deer but not anymore! The only shot that didn't pass through was the 220 pound buck shot through both front shoulders at 200 yards, broke the heavy bone on offside shoulder and found just under the hide. The wound was far beyond what I have ever seen for a projectile with the weight and mild velocity.

Mirrors my experience with a 2870 fps starting load. Bears, mtn goat, antelope, and big whitetails. Great bullet at various ranges for me.
