I would go maximum mag. length with the VLD as they like to jump most of the time. I have found this with their other VLDs as well and I would use a magnum primer especially if your hunting in a colder climate to insure you get the most ignition you can. I do this with my 280 AI 63.5 Retumbo CCI250 primer and a 168 Hunting VLD excellent results on game.
