Hey fellas has anyone tried the new 30cal 205 Elite Hunter?

Been looking at some options for upcoming 300WSM build, looks impressive on paper.

A bit shorter than the well respected 215 Hybrid so it wont crowd the powder column.

Thoughts?

Berger says the jacket is thinner for more expansion. It wouldn't be my first choice for elk but might do a fine job on a well placed shot on a deer's.

"Our Elite Hunter bullets also incorporate a slightly thinner J4 Precision hunting jacket, which allows the projectile to penetrate 2″ to 3″ before rapidly expanding. Upon expansion, the projectile sheds most of its weight producing extreme hydrostatic shock and a massive wound cavity in the vital area. Berger Elite Hunter bullets dump their energy where it is most effective, inside the animal. Animals drop quickly, with most immediately going into shock after such trauma. An ethical kill is our #1 performance goal and is demanded by our customers."

Use it and let us know how it performs.

Thx AZ, thought about that too.

Prolly better suited for "softer" targets, however, I have seen a few monster muleys take some serious heat into the boiler room and just keep going.

HD, thats good to know.

I've been studying the Berger reference sheets.

The 200 Hybrid, 200.20x are almost mirror images except in the nose length and boat tail.

FF goes to the 200.20x

May have to initiate some soft tissue testing!

I'll be doing a psi test with 200.20x tomorrow, RL16 norma 300wsm brass, I have long freebore so 30k off lands has bearing half way up the neck. It was cut for 215s. I have ran 215s up to 3k fps from my 23" barrel w/ rl26 but it's way too **** hot. Accuracy is at 2900. The 200.20 w/ rl26 will probably go another 50-60 fps faster.

I'm running the 200.20x in my WSM. I got them above 3000 fps but accuracy was at 2930 fps in my proof 26" with RL26. Im sure I could have gotten them faster but my FC brass is super soft so I don't push it. Haven't tried them on game yet but it will be my go to load when I finally leave California.

Loaded 30k off lands, I'm 3.177 coal.

I have the defiant XM bottom metal so 3.2" is what I can fit. I was going to get my barrel cut for the 215s, but I wanted to keep my options open if I wanted to run 180s without a huge jump. A FB of .088" seems to fit these 200.20x right about perfect. I'm jumping them .002" at that COAL.

H'drum, any pressure reports?
Here are 3 psi tests I did. 2x with RL26, 1 with RL16. 16 is way too fast, pressures out early. The 200.20x rl26 combo, don't be dumb like me and send it for another grain after bolt lift occurred! I shouldn't have done that. Rifle is a Tikka t3x action, 23" hells canyon summit carbon, Mesa altitude stock, which I don't like all that much.
