Thinking about trying one of these in my whinnie. Which would yall recommend or neither? Thinking more on terminal performance. 9 twist custom gun. Ran the 215s well but you know how finding those are right now. So...what say you?
Thanks
Doc

I too shot the 215's for many years with good results but bought some 208's to try since the 215's are hard to find. Shooting the same powder charge as the 215's (76.5 grs H1000) about 25fps slower at 2850 than the 215's. Shooting 3/4" group at 200yds. Took it out to 750yds last nite,2 shots at 3 1/2 ". The 208's are ringing steel just fine. No idea on hunting with them. I had a .050 jump with the 208's, a .030 jump with the 215's.

I'm shooting the 208's in. 300wm and getting 3,078 average and tiny tiny groups. Very destructive on what I have shot so far.
What powder and charge weight are you up to for this load? Of course I'm aware YOUR rifle will differ than mine and I should work up. Just trying to get an idea of where people are having success interms of charge weight, etc with these 208's

😳

Holy smokes. Long barrel?

I'm getting just shy of 2900 fps with a 208 AMAX/ELDX and roughly the same with 210 ABLR and 210 VLDH in my 24".

Heck, the 300 RUM, 300 Norma, and 30 Nosler data on Nosler and Hodgden don't even make 3078 fps for the 200-210 class bullets in 24" barrels.

What brand of case are you using to put these 208's in?

77.5 grain N565 in a 300 WM with a 26" proof barrel
To ensure safe practices and reasonable expectations, it might be worth mentioning that this load is 2.7 grains and 247 fps over the 74.8 grains @ 2831 fps (24.5" test bbl) that Vihtavuori recommends as the maximum load for the 208 LRHT with N565.

I am using remington brass that Midway use to sell in bulk boxes of 100 20 yrs ago. I stocked up back then & just opened my last box a couple of month ago. I have 6 & 7 times of reloading most of my brass. My barrel has about 2000 rounds thru it, when I rebarrel I'll probably switch to lapua brass.
