I'd like to get an idea from the group what thought do you have when you see groups like these 2. Rifle shoots heavy ELDx great, but I'm stubborn and want to shoot Berger 215s. I'm using new Lapua brass, H1000 (75gr), Fed 215M, 0.002 NT. Played with seating depth from 0.010 to 0.040. Getting 2850 average velocity consistently.
Besides me pulling shots, what would you do differently to make rifle shoot MOA? Scope, torque, and usual things triple-checked. Perhaps it hates Bergers 🤣Thanks

I was amazed at trying a different powder, made a big difference in my 300wm. Actually improved with 7828ssc from H1000. So there's more pixie dust for my fellow loaders here! Wish I had more info for ya on the Heavy ELDX, but I know someone here will have some wisdom to share with ya.

Thank you, appreciate the input.

Check the scope rings, stock torque, and barrel float.
Then try a different powder.

Retumbo
7828ssc
N565 OR N570
Among others come to mind.

Does the rifle have a brake or suppressor? If not, are you flinching? Not trying to be a dick, but an un braked 300wm can suck and cause recoil induced flinching. I am 6'4" and 300lbs. I am not super.recoil sensitive, but an unbraked 300wm can be punchy depending on weight and stock.

It has a brake thankfully. I'll recheck all the hardware and see. Different powder might me next. Thanks

What's the rifle? Be sure to pull the scope and torque check the rail also. Was this a Satterlee test that lead to the charge weight?

Are both groups at the same charge and seating depth. I typically do seating first starting at .015 off or mag length and do 4 sets, increasing seating depth .015 each time. Even at starting loads ( typically out of a powder node) I can find one that shoots moa or less on most modern factory rifles.

If it shoots the ELDX well, it's likely not a problem with your gun/optic.

Berger's are what I shoot. Seating depth is tricky. Are you shooting the VLD or Classic Hunter? In my 308s they're jumping 0.164". In the 280 REM it's 0.020". The 280AI it's 0.005". The 300 WM the 168 CH is jumping 0.080" I would continue seating deeper 0.020" at a time.

I have had 2 self timing brakes loosen up on me before and cause the rifles to group bad. I have seen my scope bases loosen up. Never seen the rings loosen up, but it is possible. Check action screws, etc. Just a thought.
