What are you guys using on your bear baits for rifles

This Fall it is
500 A-Square
32" 1.350 barrel 5 port muzzle brake
250 grain bullets 3300+ fps
165 yards to the bait
shot from a bench rest

This Spring it was
470 Capstick
28" max HV barrel 3 port muzzle brake
275 grain CEB brass hollow points drilled to 250 grains
3100+ fps
165 yards--Bench Rest

You hunting black bear? Anything left of them after being hit with one those? Last time I did bait it was a 300wsm from prone at 400 yards and I thought I had a lot of gun.

I black bear hunt with a 1963 marlin marauder in 35 remington. I just got a remington sendero 7mm rem mag that I will probably use this year.

I've been using a Savage Weather Warrior 300 WM with 180 TTSX but next spring I'll mostly likely use a Sako 375 H&H with 250 TTSX.

Last bear I shot over bait was with my 416 Taylor 350 speer mag tip at 2450fps at 40 yards.

But he weighed out at 490lbs.

Dead is Dead no matter what you kill them with.

The next one I shoot most likley will be with my 45-70 with a 460 hard cast at 1400fps. I am sure it well kill it well.

I always figured that a 45-70 Marlin aught to be just about right for bears over bait. Seemed to work fine on this boar.

That's the perfect bear gun. The short lever action with alot of stopping power is perfect for bears at close range, my 325wsm Browning BLR (Bear Lever Rifle) has accounted for two in the last 12 months.
