BaseMap Remote Marker feature allows users to laser range an object and mark it on their map. Certain units, like my Sig Kilo5k laser, communicate with BaseMap to accomplish this.
Once it's set up, you open BaseMap and go to Remote Marker. Laser an object. Use the crosshair screen on the app to "take a photo" of the object. BaseMap uses your phone compass/gps and the lasered distance to mark the target on your map.
The problem is, mine does not work correctly. No matter what I try, the compass BaseMap uses is off by about 10 degrees but it varies from 5-30 degrees. I've seen online reports of other users with the SAME issue and no resolution.
Yes I've calibrated my gps and compass. Yes I've uninstalled and re-installed BaseMap. Yes I've restarted my phone. Yes my gps shows my correct location, and maps shows my correct direction of travel.
Any ideas? I exchanged several emails with BaseMap support today and they suggested the above listed "fixes" but it still doesn't work.
