Barrel Harmonics and use of a dampner???

Michael you mentioned barrel hamonics in my topic about velocity swings and it got me thinking have any of you guys experimented with barrel dampners like the Sims version or any others? What are your thoughts on these? This question is for anyone with experience on the subject not just Michael.

I use the Simms vibration dampeners on 5 of my rifles now, and try them on all new ones. Not all rifles need them, but certainly do make a difference on some of them. Cheap enuf to buy and try. Most of the rifles I use like the dampener near the stock, but one likes it out near the end of the barrel.
