Bald Eagles!

A bud called me this am and told me was cutting beans and had few bald eagles circling the combine, he thought they were just catching thermals and gliding. As he was cutting a rabbit ran out of the beans and an eagle swooped down and snatched it. I asked if he got pics or video, he said "no it happened so fast, and never in my wildest dreams did I ever think it would happen more then once"

Sounds like they are adapting to human activity like a lot of other species are.

Anyway I thought the story was timely and thought I'd share it with you.

I haven't seen a bald eagle circling and swoop down while cutting soybeans but have seen many "chicken hawks" swoop and catch field mice to rabbits.
Coyotes even become conditioned to hunt the flush from soybean harvesters.
I've seen them trot along side of the combine about 100 yards on the inside of the crop going back and forth.

I was on many driven pheasant hunts out of San Luiz, MX. Over the years we had coyote packs split up and parallel the beaters to grab the side runners. Later, they became even bolder and started beating the beaters to the downed birds. Some only made that mistake once! A load of 5's puts them right down.
