Badlands BD-2 load data

I tested magpro and retumbo, however I started the retumbo too low. Started at 70gn and worked up to 73gn. 73 grains only gave me 2676. Going to have to retest retumbo and work up starting at 74gn.

What velocities would you get with a 338 Norma with 250 grain Berger? Just curious!

These 390 grain bulldozers should work well. 😬

Left to right: 195 grain 300 PRC, 275 grain 338NM, 390 grain 375 EnABELR.

Action and reamer are ordered, barrel is in the office with a second on the way shortly.

Hopefully I'm getting a load developed by the fall, in time for some mountain top fun.

Shaen spinning up the new rig?

My hunting load is right around 2850fps out of my 26" barrel. Need to go shoot my rifle with the can next month and see if there is any POI shift.

This is that 800 yard group with the 275's from two hunting seasons ago.

View attachment 438120

For comparison, with the 275's, I'm sitting at 2909 fps out of my 338 Lapua. 30" & 1-9". 90.4 grains of H1000.

I posted my preliminary results in another thread for my 338 NMI and 250gr SDB-2's. I'll post them here also for those interested.
I haven't been able to get out and validate to 1000 and beyond yet due to snowfall amounts here. All the deer and elk are pushed down low and the usual areas that are accessible this time of year for me are not usable due to wildlife.
Results so far are promising and I'll proceed as permitted.

I will wait for weather and wildlife conditions to improve before I proceed further.
I would like to try N565 as it has shown great results in some other cases. I'm am out of that powder and waiting anxiously for it to become available again! I think it will give great results.
I also will try HBN coating on these 250's and document those results as well

300 Norma loaded with 205 gr SBE-2 to take advantage of CIP mag. Shooting great around 0.040. Groups shot at 300 yards.

205 gr
H1000-84.4
SD less than 3
2988fps average

Ps…..COAL measured with Hornady .284 comparitor as to not bottom out tip of bullet on the calipers and give a good office measurement

While I reject the concept of projectiles grouping tighter at longer distances than closer, I love your attention to detail and enjoy your data.
if You want to document your observed change in moa over longer distance, just set up 3 or more shot markers out to near the end of the supersonic speed of the bullet.

Wow. Love your post. I have always believed that our bullets were well suited to supermagnum use like those by Kirby Allen.

Very, very nice shooting right there. Kirby makes some gorgeous rifles. I hope mine turns out to be a shooter like yours. I was just curious why you chose the 150gr over the 160gr? With the horse power you have I would thing you would have gone with the 160gr.
