I always want to have an accurate tactical rifle for both all around big game hunting and maybe one day I can use it for long range shooting competition. One day I just ordered a SIG SSG3000 in impulse. It looks really cool, but I won't get it until a month later. Anyone had experience with this rifle? How do you like it? What is the longest range you shot a deer with it? Thanks for sharing your input.

On the action, it's stamped Germany, but rest of the parts might be made in US. Have you ever tried to shoot SSG3000?

BTW, all components of the SSG 3000 are made in Germany (Sauer!!) as far as I know. The quality is without a doubt outstanding. Maybe one can order calibres like 300WM etc. extra. Normally Sauer and similar premium companies do whatever the client wishes.

Take a closer look at the Sauer 202 STYRIA ARMS LRH Custom. I think you might like it. gun)

Recently the SSG came to America. I have had the chance to own and shoot several of these. Unfortunately the German stuff is far superior as far as quality goes. They do not like Superformance ammo and do quite well with Black Hills Match ammo. All that I have/ had were this way. This leads me to believe they are under strict quality control and tuned for a specific load. In the reloads I tried most options and did best with Lapua Brass and the Secnar bullet. Off the shelf they will shoot into the .1 all day long. Stringing does not occur and POI does not change much in 5 rounds. Impressive to say the least.

There is one more (regular) Sauer 202 modell to find that surely is capable for LRH and in more suitable calibres. It's the 202 Wolverine with a laminat stock and moveable cheekpiece. In 300WM barrel length is 67cm, so that's about ca. 26,5 inches. I'd prefer that modell before the SIG Sauer SSG 3000. It even costs less ...

I'm currently shooting a Remington 700 THS Special Run 300WSM. It's a great LRH gun, but I just hate the floor plate. I want to switch to a magazine type rifle. I know .308 can shoot to 1000 yards for target and up to 800 yards or so for hunting. It's probably furthest I can shoot a deer where I live. SSG3000 seems quite nice for that. I just can't wait till I get the rifle. Will post picture later when I get it. :D

I've had my eye on one at a local shop. Just not ready to take the plunge on it yet.

I finally setup my new SSG 3000. Here are some pictures:

I took it to shooting range. This is a group of 3 shots at 200 yards.
