I read in the Nosler manual that H1000 gave the best velocity in the 6.5x55. So I tried it and a mid range load with no pressure signs produced 2740fps. The load shoots 1 inch groups to boot. I was very impressed.
So has any one else tried it or RL 26 in their 6.5x55.

I've not acquired either of those powders but have 6.5x55s so I'm interested to join in.

Too slow for me. 4350 or 4831sc.

I think there was more speed to be had. That load shot to 1 inch and I was kind of in a rush. It was right there with the creedmoor with 140 too. The load was a 140 Berger Elite Hunter over 49.5grns of h1000 seated at 3.200. Nosler said 52grn is a max load. From what this gun said I think a person could go higher working up carefully of coarse. Just my opinion but I believe the 6.5x55 has way more potential than our manuals say.

Tried H1000 but got best results with R17. Can't remember load data. Shot out CZ barrel pushing it to the max. Could get 2950 with140 Berger VLD. Sold it when CM came out. It could do everything that the swead could do and could get brass. Had about four thousand rounds down the tube. Groups were gone. Told new owner what was happening but he wanted action and trigger from the 550.

It did , but with all the old 6.5x55s out there it was scaled back. I used R17 to push A 140 Berger to near 3000 FPS.

Depends on bullet & barrel length, but I believe H1000 would be too slow.
And 2740fps is very slow.
Is 2762fps still too slow? I had quite a bit of powder in my Ruger to get that…I want to say 49gr of H4831SC. This is a modern action only load.
