a little .284 help please

Currently gathering parts for a .284 winny xp build. I recently aquired a bunch of 162 amax and don't want a chamber that will cripple my xp. Anyone running longer throats and have good data for a longer c.o.a.l. to take advantage of this projectile?

I had a long throated 284 Win in the T/C Encore.

My OAL was right at 3.2" for several bullets. I didn't load any of the Hornady 162's however.

I did load some of the Berger 168 VLD's. I'll have to check my load data but if I recall correctly, the OAL was a bit over 3.2".

For long bullets, you really want to pretty much mirror the Norma throat of the sister 6.5-284 Norma cartridge in order to optimize performance.

Good call Buttermilk, I was in that frame of mind but wasn't sure how well it may work out. Made up a graph of advertised max oal and then went up by .1, puts it into perspective how bad the case intrusion could be.
