Comparing The 7-STW to the 7-RUM will always be controversial
as to which is best so all I will do is give you a compairson so that you
can determine which one you want.
First the STW is a belted case, the RUM is not.Years ago the belted design
was considerd a must for magnum cartriges.
Now the rage is the non belted cartriges.(both types have there advantages
and disadvantages.
Next is the velocity issue. If you intend to shoot bullets around 140grs there
is not much advantage to the 7 RUM over the STW, but if you want to shoot
160grs+ then the RUM has a velocity edge.
For a compairson= The 7 RUM shoots flatter with a 140gr bullet than a 7 STW
and a 22/250 with a 55gr bullet at 300 yards and it produces 24 percent more
energy than a 7 REM MAG and 12 percent more energy than the STW.
The 7 RUM is one of the flattest shooting factory big game cartriges on the planet.
I have all three and they each have there place in the woods.
