7mm Rem Mag and 180 Berger Hybrids

I am in the final stages of load development for a 7 mag and 180 hybrids. 71 gr of retumbo, 210m's, norma brass .005 off lands, 1/2 moa. My *** chrony needs to be shot in the face to save me a lot of hair pulling. I borrowed another chrony for tmrw, so I'll keep ya in the loop. FYI, ran rl33 up to 78 gr with slight ejector marks and easy bolt lift, just didn't have the accuracy I was looking for.
PS if anybody has too many hybrids I'll take them off your hands!

Keep me posted on what you come up with. I will be curious. I know I am not gonna be touching 3000fps, but I think 2900 is attainable, we'll see I guess.

Shot over a good chrono the last 2 days. 71 gr of retumbo was right at 2900. Shot a few groups at 71.5 it got me 2950, great es and 1/2 moa. Tested 72 gr and got good es right at 3000, but showed ejector marks, slight primer crater and the groups opened up a bit. I will stretch the legs out to 1150 on the 71 and 71.5 this weekend and see how they do.

I have 4 boxes of Hybrids to shoot but have not been able to make myself load them because the 180VLD has been so good. Just picked up 8lbs of Retumbo to use when I run out of 4831, I am going to try the Hybrid again when I get to that point. Speed should be a touch better with the Hybrid but I am only going on how they performed in my 6.5 Creed so we will see. The Proof Research barrel on this rig has been outstanding for speed and the bugholes it shoots.

Excellent. I would guesstimate that with the 70gr H1000 I am running I will probably sit right about 2900 then I bet. That should be a pretty nice round ballistically I would think. Someday maybe I oughta put about a 30" barrel on it and shoot some Retumbo and I bet a guy could smoke those 180's pretty good.

Mine is a 26" Krieger. Just to see, I Prepped some Winchester brass to see if pressure signs show up at the 72 gr load and test some 72.5 lit by cci LR.( a little harder cup than the 210m).

180 hybrids, 63 grns RL33 CCI 250 in 2900fps from my 284 imp. 28" kreiger

Thursday I shot a 5 shot group that is 1.07" at 500 yards

How is your brass holding up with 71 grains of Retumbo? My Win brass did not last with that load, the primer pocket became very loose. The same with the Nosler brass I tried. I had to drop my load to 69.5 of Retumbo with the 180's. My VLD's are still more accurate than my 180 Hybs.

My retumbo load for 180 VLDs is 69.5 or 70.0 grains depending on the powder lot. My current lot is running 70.0 grains at 3060 fps in my 28" bbl. My H1000 load is 69.0 grains that runs 2985 fps.

The other day I found some RL33 and gave it try in my 7RM starting at 75.0 grains at 3090 fps and worked up to pressure signs at 78.5 grains running 3190 fps. I think this combo deserves further investigation.

Just got back from the range testing the 180 hybrid's, tried H1000 and IMR 7828SSC. Started the H1000 at 61g, 63g and 65g groups got smaller the higher charge. with IMR I started 59, 61 and 63g. The best groups were the IMR 7828 63g under 1/2moa. going to keep working with this load try a bit more powder and play with overall length, factory barrel shoots federal 150's into 1 ragged hole.
