77 tmk in a tikka

i have a 22inch 223 t3x factory everything except its in a stockys stock. It shoots factory 55 gr pretty well. I'd really like to run 77tmks and tried multiple different charge weight starting with varget a 22.5 gr and worked up in .2 gr to 24.3. My lowest charge weight (22.5 middle picture) shot decent every other 3 shot group was horrible.

Do you think it worth while trying a different powder or just giving up on 77tmk all together?

My brother and I both have t3x's in 223 but I cut them both down to 16"
His is stainless, mine is blued. They both shoot the 77 smk and tmk quite well. My brother has pushed his to 1000 yards.

Just going from memory, his load is either 24.5 or 25gr of varget. He got decent results with N540 also. Can't remember the load.

Never really loaded them for my rifle, but the load I use in my ar is 24.5gr of Accurate 2520. Shoots sub moa in the gasser and the tikka.

Edit to add: my brothers load is 24.5gr of varget, AAC brass, cci400 primers. They're seated out pretty long also. The tikka chambers are pretty generous for oal.

Group size doesn't mean much without chrono data. Groups can be shrank with seating depth changes.

i have that. my best ES is 8 on my smallest group (22.8 lowest charge weight). Every other group has an ES of 20-30

25 grains N540 is what works with 77 TMKs for my hunting load.

If you can't get a Tikka to shoot 77TMKs, something is very wrong.

This is a 10 round group from my Tikka Compact with 77 grain TMKs over a 2 grain spread in powder while doing a ladder test. Dot is 1".

Your rifle might not like that powder/ case/ primer and bullet combination. You could try a different primer and coal. And then I'd try a different powder.

My Tikka 22-250 loves it, critters hate it :p

I tried 75 eldm over varget too. Similar bad results
