I have used SPS rifles as donors for several builds, from .300RUM to .222, I use them because cost is moderate and it's still a model 700. I use BERGARRA bbls, and do the lugs, recoil lug, and rails while bbl is off weapon and usually use ACCURATE INOVATONS for the "wood" stock or CHOATE for varmint stuff. Using these components let's me do the work myself and the money saved goes into glass. And, they SHOOT ! my 22-250 will shoot 1/4" groups all day, and the .308 does "bug holes".
