7 prc or 6.5 prc?

The point is how important BC is and stability with a bullet that will expand properly on game. Attached are range cards for 6.5CM match grade 140 ELDx and 6.5-300 WBY factory 130 Scirroco starts 800FPS faster and ends up less than 90FPS difference at 2000 yards. Just trying to help someone with things to consider when selecting his new rifle.

It's confusing to me at least, to see the puny underpowered case with a heavier bullet than the ridiculously large capacity one.
In your scenario listed I'd take the 6.5-300 every time, regardless of BC.

A couple minor flaws.
You have the 6.5CM starting out about 90fps faster @ 2758fps than you stated. Not that big of a deal. A 140 is the ELD-M, not ELD-X. ELD-X is a 143gr.

But, since this is a hunting site, let's look at those two drop charts and see where the bullet drops to 1800fps or 1000ft/lbs for a comparison. Where this matters.

6.5CM 140 ELD-M (not ELD-X) @ 2758fps 720ish yards

6.5-300WBY, 130 Scirroco @ 3560fps (+702fps over the CM) 1120ish yards (+400yds over the CM)

To be honest, I hate the 6.5-300Wby, even though it is a fire breathing dragon laser beam. I would rather hunt with the 6.5CM at way less recoil and run a can, and way easier to find a load for...and less blast...and longer barrel life...and better brass available.

The final point was there are a lot more options for .284 hunting bullets with better BCs hence the recomemdation for the 28 Nosler. Currently my 2 best hunting rifles are a 30-378 WBY and 6.5-300 WBY. The 28 Nosler should be ready in 8 weeks still waiting on stock from Manners.

I have both and I am waiting for a second 6.5 PRC from Seekings if that tells you anything. If you worried about Elk and penetration, 3 years ago I shot a 6X5 in ID with the 6.5 and 143 ELDx quartering away, bullet entered third from that last rib and there was one piece of jacket that made it trough the hide on the off shoulder(see photo). It was well over 24 inches of penetration and he went down right there rolled to the bottom or course , It was however under 200 yards.

With the case designs you and I have gotten used to, anything long and slender is a pain in the ***.
Had a close friend make the same remark last weekend about a 300PRC.

You are correct that was an eldm, speeds are averaged from chronograph and BCs trued to gun.
