6.5 PRC or 6.5 SAUM?

6.5 SAUM makes dead elk.

Thanks for all the posts guys. I found a killer deal on PRC dies ,brass and ammo but I'm still not 100% sure I'm going 6.5 PRC. I've got all fall and winter to decide. I've got a 7STW and 338WM for my bigger calibers , this just needs to fill a gap between them and my 25/06.

A 7.5 twist 25-06 shooting 131 blackjack Bullets @ 3150-3200 fps has no gap to be filled. I'm getting my 25 saum finished up right now, it'll be a little faster, but the bullet has a verified 350 g7 bc, and if you run the numbers at the speeds it can be pushed its very impressive. My rifle wears a 26" barrel and should push the bullets 3300-3350, if you run the #s, at higher elevation, it's flatter than a 28N/195 eol, and had 1.5k # energy out past 1k yards! If the rife is as good as I'm hoping, I'll have two 6.5 saums for sale.

What are your 6.5 SAUMS?

I have a SAUM using 143ELDX (Norma brass) at 3019FT at the muzzle, 24 inch barrel. The thing fires darts, and drops whatever I have shot in its tracks. Its a lot of fun to shoot. I had it made specifically to take on a upcoming elk hunt.
sounds like a great reduced recoil round what powder are u using. I had saum on a howa action I built for my son but he needs a LH gun but we were using 143 with H1000 and it was showing promise

I went with 6.5 PRC because I wanted a Browning X-bolt Pro. That Pro really shoots well, as in 1/2 MOA with 143 gr. Hornady ELD-X factory loads at 200 yards, and time after time!

Go with the saum, more capacity will allow you to run heavies (147-156 grainers) @ 3050-3100 with H1000.
The PRC will never get you there.
I'm speaking from experience
