Does anyone have experience shooting and reloading for the 6.8 Western. Its a fascinating cartridge

Have two x-bolts in 6.8 Western. One rifle was used to take two pronghorn and other rifle was used to take a caribou. With the big Browning muzzle brake the recoil is reasonable. Handloading; mostly with Hammer bullets and now using ADG brass.

I'm slowly putting one together. I purchased a Browning X-Bolt 2 with a gray laminate stock. I've installed a Warne picatinney rail and I'm awaiting delivery of a Zeiss Conquest 4-16x44 scope and Zeiss rings.

I find it to be an intriguing cartridge as well.

My son and I each have a 6.8W, his is a Browning X-bolt, mine in a Browning X-bolt 2 SR wearing a BanishBackcountry can. I've taken a Whitetail buck, mule deer buck and a bull elk with mine. I am a huge fan. I have reloading components but have yet to do any reloading for it.

How do you like your Banish Backcountry?

If you own a 6.8 Western, a recoil comparison with the .308 or .30-06 would be much appreciated. I'm recovering from rotator cuff surgery and wonder how it compares. My belief is that it's comparable to the '06... am I right.

I grew up shooting and hunting with the .308 win. I don't think I notice much difference in recoil. It may depend on the rifle fit but I've shot the Browning and also a custom 6.8W and thought they were all pretty mild recoil.
