Due to the added costs of Wby Ammo, is it worth it to just build a 6.5-270 instead? / Edit I meant 270 Win as the brass is all over.

6.5 Sherman beats them all and uses the same brass.6.5-280AI will offer a little more capacity than 6.5-270. I hope someone is able to chime in who has measured case capacity on both.
Weatherby sure is proud of their brass...!
The RPM too?!6.5 Sherman beats them all and uses the same brass.
I was referring to the 270 based brass. Not sure what the RPM will do but the 6.5 Sherman will run 3250-3300 with a 140 and 26" barrelThe RPM too?!
Stick with the 6.5 RPM and do not let anyone talk you out of it, including myself. IF you are considering a wildcat/non-SAAMI anyways, you might as well stick with it or do 6.5 Gibbs. As @shortgrass noted in a different thread, be careful about "Interdnet" claims.Due to the added costs of Wby Ammo, is it worth it to just build a 6.5-270 instead?
Long enough with good brass and running N570WOW! How long does the brass last?
I agree. My brass was lasting 4-5 firings out of my 6.5 Sherman. I was using nosler 270 brass at the time, running 140 Berger's at 3339 FPS out of a 28" Hart with N570.Long enough with good brass and running N570
And Nosler brass isnt all that tough!I agree. My brass was lasting 4-5 firings out of my 6.5 Sherman. I was using nosler 270 brass at the time, running 140 Berger's at 3339 FPS out of a 28" Hart with N570.
With excellent Peterson 280 ai brass available and an easy neck down with off the shelf bushing dies, I'd go 6.5-280ai for sureDue to the added costs of Wby Ammo, is it worth it to just build a 6.5-270 instead? / Edit I meant 270 Win as the brass is all over.
Surprised me too!And Nosler brass isnt all that tough!
