Hello
3 Veterans Celebrating the 4th of July with an early morning hunt.
Went hunting the 4th of Julywith a couple of friends for coyotes. Hiked into the back country 3.5 miles. Made 4 stands. The first stand we had a couple of fox come in. But they aren't in season so we passed. 2nd Stand no response. 3rd Stand we setup, turned on the cottontail in distress. Less than 20 seconds we had several coyotes howling behind and above us. Switched to jackrabbit in distress and ran it for a few seconds. Did a female howl and turned off the call. Within a minute we spotted a coyote running full speed - #1 coyote down. Continued with the cottontail distress call. #2 coyote full speed ahead following the same route into our setup. #2 down. Less than a minute #3 follows in trace. #3 down.
This all happened in less than 5 minutes. We all just looked at each other, blown away by what just occurred. After allot of laughing and congratulating one another for some great shooting. We moved on to Stand #4, no takers.
We called it a day and hiked cross country and up a long steep hill back to the trucks and cold water.

Three Veterans:
Frank Garcia, Captain USMC Active
Darrell Meadows, Former Navy
Myself: Robert Gonzales, USMC-Disabled Vietnam Veteran
