.458-50bmg ??

Just pondering things.

I've been googling and searching around for possible info
on this possible wildcat, have not found anything yet.

Seems like a natural to me, a full length 50BMG case necked to .458.

Anyone have any leads on websites, or even firsthand experience ?

Why would this not work ?

One day I would like to start a 50-cal project, have to pick an action,
but that's another topic. I do like the looks of the Barnard, from New
Zealand. Then it's any barrel and chambering you want.

Are there any good long range bullets available in .458?

There is the 460 Steyr, made from BMG brass,

3.54" long -- 2.80" to shoulder -- Base .805" --

shoulder dia .720" -- not full length but still near overbore

for a 458 cal. There us a guy experimenting with our 585HE

case necked down, in 458 would get 90% the speed of the Steyr, but

not need a BMG diameter action. Ed
