I was wondering if anyone has some data on this cartridge? I will be receiving a .416-.375 RUM soon and figured this is the closest cartridge to get starting data from. I have 400 Swift A-Frames, but will have other bullets coming soon.

I have no idea. Just thought I'd tag in, and hope continuing the conversation let someone with knowledge see the question. It should be a thumper.

Hornady 9th edition has some data for the 416 Dakota.... seems like the powders are in the 4350-4831 burn range and going from low 70 grain charges to 90-100 depending on the powder. Tell me what you have in that burn range and I'll get you data if they have it. 2500 fps with a 400.

edit...They also have 416 ruger data, which will be a lot better since it is actually the same case as their 375. powder speeds are slightly faster with 760 and 2700 as the slowest they use.

Thanks a lot Lefty I haveW760, H414, and H4831 for powders. With the way things are up here in Alaska powder is a hard comodody to come by. These are the powders I believe will work. The others I have may be too fast or too slow; BL-(C)2, W748, R25, Retumbo, H50BMG. Thanks again.

416 ruger data...
they show 760 at 76.2 start and 80.8 top

for 748 they show 66.5 start and 75.3 top at the same speeds

the vel's go from 2000 to 2250 fps but they are in a 20" bbl. so you will likely show higher with a longer pipe. 760 and h414 are the same powder (according to Hodgdon) so either 760 or h414 would work with this.

I was thinking you had a ruger variant, not rum-- sorry... I re-read and saw rum.... in any case you have ideas on where to start

for 416 Dakota data they show only h4831 of the powders you have and they go from 80.7 start to 107.2 top with speeds from 2100 to 2600 fps.
