338 Rum & RL33 ?

Alliant doesn't show many RL-33 loads. You will have to do some comparisons using 338 Lapua data which IS listed:

338 Lapua 250 gr sierra mk, 103.5 gr RL 33 @ 3001
338 Lapua 300 gr Sierra MK 97.5 gr RL 33 @ 2748 fps

I had to figure out what to use with the 6mm-284, 7mm/375, 300 RUM and 257 Weatherby when it I got my hands on RL-33 over a year ago.

My conclusion is to start with a midrange or slightly above midrange load data for Retumbo and work up from there.

Based on my experiences RL-33 works best with the heaviest for caliber bullets.

Thanks for the response AZShooter. I'm going to start
with 90 gr. RL33 under the Cutting Edge D59 252 gr.
Bullet. I'll work up in 1 gr. increments from there ,
Hoping to match retumbo's accuracy, & exceed it's
velocity.Looking forward to trying the RL33 in the
257 WBY as well. Thanks again denny.

257 too? I have some load data for you. I used a 110 moly coated accubond.

Original load 75.5 gr of RL-25 vel 3615 fps with 28" 3 groove barrel

RL-33
starting load 76 gr for vel of 3318
jumped to 80 gr 3432 fps
81 gr 3525
82 gr 3559
83 3625 which slightly faster than old load with RL-25
83.5 3674 fps shot well two shots of four were same velocity
84 gr 3704 fps shot well two shots of four were same velocity
84.5 gr 3735 slight signs of pressure on one case of four this is max case capacity with drop tube
