338 lapua

i am interested in a 338 lapua, and was told, and seen the rifle that it could be done on a savage 110 long action rifle, i see that the case is similar in size to the 338 rum, and the 338 rum is almost identical to the 300 rum aside from the bore size, i know a 338 rum can be done safely, but the lapua is sooo nice, has anyone heard of this being done on a savage before, and were the results good, or should i just go with the 300 rum which savage already makes
