Whai is the average loaded necksize diameter you guys are getting with the 338 lapua brass and 300 gr otm bergers. The reason i ask is that im building 338 lapua imp. in feb. my loaded roound for 338 lapua brass and 300 otm berger is 367.5 . I am now afraid after ordering a 370 neck reamer die that i ordered it to small. If it 2 tight i have sinclair neck turning tools. i was told sammi spec for 338 lapua was around 374. I hope i havent mess up and ordered to small . I am hoping to be able to fire form cases with out first having to turn virgin 338 lapua brass.

I guess my concern was that some 338 lapua brass is thicker that other. I know have some lapua that measures 365.5 loaded round and some of my older 338 lapua measures 367.5 loaded. AT even 368 that would give me 2 th clearence. I just had concerns that when i will be fireforming it to 338 lapua imp. that it was going to cause me problems. It seems to be that the older lapua 338 is thicker than the new brass. Has anyone else had this experiance?

Are you wanting to fire form then turn the necks? If I was fire forming an improved version, I would prefer to neck turn before fire forming.

No. I was hoping to not have to turn the necks. I already have a 284 shehane , 6mmbr, and a 6ppc, that i have to turn the necks in, i wasnt wanting to have to turn the necks in the 338 lapua imp. My problem is that i may have orderd 338 lapua imp. reamer to tight. Its 370. and my thinking was that like my friend that use a 365 neckbushing that i would have a 366 loaded round with a 370 chamber that would give me 4 th clearence. Now i am measruring some OLD lapua 338 brass against so new from midway and getting different loade round measurements. the old lapua seams to be thicker by 2th. I may be worrying and over thinking this to much> thats why i was woundering what some of you guess 338 lapua brass measured with a loaded round> thanks for the replys guys< chris
