Has anyone used us869 in their 338 Lapua with 285 eld-m's?, or even with a 250 gr berger? Im curious how it worked and how temp sensitive it was. I found 5 pounds of it. Not sure if its worth buying as I havent used it in my 338 before.

Thanks for any feed back

I use it in a larger case than the Lapua, it is not temp stable….any shooting above 80°F is gonna give you velocity increases.
However, it is a very good powder. Wish I could get more, but it is no longer available where I am.
I wouldn't hesitate using it.

Cheers.

two guys I shoot with bought some US869 , they haven't got into it yet . they shoot 300 A-Tips , and 300 Berger . I shoot 300 gr Berger . I bought a jug of RL50 . I haven't needed to get in it yet . both of these powders will be compressed loads . quickload adjusted to my rifle specs , shows they look to be able to give about 3100FPS with a 250 gr Berger ," IN MY RIFLE " , if you can reach max casefill .

with quickload set up for my rifle ;
using a 250 Berger ,
US869 will be around 114.6% case fill to get to max pressure

RL50 is slightly less with a case fill of 113.5% to get to max pressure

For the 270edl-x there is data, but don't see any for 285edl-m. Barnes 285 tax-x has us869 data. I picked up 5 lbs of LRT from Midsouth.

another powder that seems to be a good match is N570 . I was able to get a jug of that right after I bought the RL50 . that's why my RL50 is unused yet .

good luck trying to find N570 though .

H1000 works too .

I've used 24N41 with the 285 ELD-M's with good results. Just got 10 lbs of LRT to try with the 300 MatchKings. The rifle is a Ruger RP 338.
