30ar

I'm working on something similar. Go ahead and google 300AAC Black out. Its brand new so there is not a ton of info but there is some.

I am having a barrel cut for my MRP. Should be able to push a 220g SMK at 2300fps from a 14" barrel.

I am having an 18" barrel cut

The case reminds me of a 30 Meyer cut short. The case is not fun to form! I'm thinking about necking the case down to 6mm and use a 35 degree shoulder The over all case length will be close to 1.625 after fire forming (it's gonna shrink a little bit, and may just keep the 30 degree shoulder to make things easier). How many grains of water are you seeing inside the case? I kinda wonder if it will work as an HBR case

The 30AR shoulder need to be set foward a tad to make the 45 to 45.5 gr. of water weight capacity. Randy

That figures! The neck will end up being on the short side unless you maybe can gain something with even less taper and a forty degree shoulder. That Meyer case maybe one of the hardest cases to form, but right now it looks like the best game in town! I'll CAD it out to see what I can come up with

In all, the neck lenght may not matter that much. Its not like your running a semi-auto or doing across the course drills. The 30 Wolf pup has a .080 neck lenght and is doing well in some matches. It is based on the 6mmBr blowed out foward enough to make capacity. http://sgrcustomrifles.com/category/cartridges/ Randy
